My guys

With two very busy boys, we have been up to a lot of shenanigans this summer. They keep us on our toes, and we wouldn't want it any other way!

Oh, you know, just climbing into the baker's rack on the patio...
Lego-building is serious business in our house!
Be still, my heart...
Sandbox and sprinkler fun one Sunday night
Our house is loud, thanks to toys like this kazoo (thanks, Aunt Maggie)!
Again, loud!
To say that these two adore each other is to put it lightly. Love them to pieces!
Soaking up some Daddy time one Sunday before he went out of town
Playground trips have been fewer and further between this summer due to the heat (note their rosy cheeks). Bring on the cooler temps, pretty please!

Again, "loud" is one of the best adjectives for our house. There's that kazoo again and the xylophone (one of Blake's favorites)!
A rare moment with Blake being still. And a rare selfie (no thanks)
A good way to contain them while I'm cooking dinner (so I don't have to worry about any injuries or refereeing) is play-doh. It keeps them busy for at least 5 minutes :-)
Ha, those goggles! Boys and their baths!
Snack-time in a different spot. Love that they like hanging out even when they don't have to!
Sweet, sweet boy trying Jell-O (when big bro was sick) for the first time. This is one instance where he only wanted to play with his food :-)
Jameston came with me to work one Friday (my half day) when he was under the weather with stomach bug. Poor boy :-( But he got to watch Bob the Builder at Mommy's desk, and mommy got to test his hearing!
Window markers=GENIUS! Double bonus: they got to watch Daddy mow, and I got to keep my eye on them in the kitchen while I prepared dinner
Quick trip to Home Depot one Saturday after naps
We have taken a few treks to the pool and night-time rides around the neighborhood in the chariot.
Daddy drives them!
Jameston reading from his Bible to Blake and explaining that there is a New and Old Testament
Afternoon serenade on the piano sans shirts, ha!
Oh my word, we need to wear scuba gear when giving these two a bath!
Again with the play-doh :-)
Night-time drive and sandbox fun!

Redneck bath-time in the sprinkler following aforesaid sandbox!
Sunday shopping trip after church. These boys had a BLAST in the dressing room, oh my! Yes, those are Crocs Blake wore to church. I don't care, I don't want to buy him a pair of sandals in his new size with just a few weeks left of summer. Poor second child and the hand-me-down!
They both wanted Daddy to hold them :-)
Just an normal afternoon in our house ;-)

This was a long blog post, but thumbing through the pictures, I realize how blessed we are. I need to read this blog on those days I feel bogged down...thank you, Lord, for this blessed life!
Adios for now, muchachos!

Swim lessons!

Jameston has been a little timid in the pool the last few summers, and as his parents, we want him to know how to swim just in case! We have a neighborhood pool, and a friend of a friend was sweet enough to come out and give him give swim lessons. He's not a swimmer now by any means, but he now has some safety tips under his belt and a little more confidence in the water!
We loved Melinda and hope to have her as his instructor again next year!
She has four kiddos of her own, and Blake and Natalie became good buds (they are days apart in age :-)
We also were able to meet up at our mutual friend's house (they were ever-so-kind to open up their house and pool to us) for some of the lessons as well
She said Jameston was a great listener and quick learner!
We are hoping some of it sticks with him through the year. Of course he will need some refreshers next summer, but I am a little less of a worry-wort now with him in a pool!
Blake took two (very short, due to attention span) lessons from her as well. It went okay, although the pic below does not depitc that!

She said kids typically have the "hold your breath/nose" instinct until about age 2, so if you can get them familiar in the water before then, that is ideal. Good to know!

Lake trip

We headed to Lake Grapevine with my dad and step-mom in July. They have a pontoon boat, so nothing crazy!
Crossing the dock!
We fed the ducks in the marina while waiting for them to pick us up
Holding Daddy's hand and saying "quack, quack!"

Blake wasn't sure about it at first...
Captain Jameston (with GG close behind)!
He loves his Pops!
Chillaxin'!
Blake finally livened up once we got in the water
And our oldest had a blast! Hoping we can go back again one last time before summer's end :-)

VBS

The boys and I were able to participate in VBS, Kingdom Rock, for the first time at our church in June. The kiddos are supposed to be 4, unless you are a teacher. And, since I was able to help teach for two days and because of awesome friends who took him on the other two days, Jameston was a first-time VBS-er!
Jameston and his sweet friend, Emmie, singing the songs
Our team of teachers! We had the second graders :-)
Blake was in the nursery for the mornings while we were there
  Playing with his buddy, Hagen!
Hoping Jameston (and the rest of us) can participate again next year!
