Blake is 21 months old!

This cutie-pie turned 21-months-old last Saturday. He's such a sweet boy, full of expressions and energy! I want to document everything about him at this age, but I've got pregnancy brain, so I'll give it my best shot! (He's pointing to his teeth in the pic below, not flipping off the camera as Brett thought :-)
Speaking of teeth, all of his canines have poked through, so he's been a drooledr lately! He's currently weighing around 33 lbs., wearing size 2t, and growing out of size 7 shoe and size 5 diapers

At this age I want to remember the following about our Blakester:
  • Our Blake is a dancing fool! He loves to bee-pop and bounce around when he hears music, with a dancing partner or by himself. So funny! He also likes to pretend to play musical instruments, especially the piano and drums. He sings along to a couple of songs, "Baby, Baby Oh So Sweet" which will be sweet when he has a sibling to sing to, and "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star."

  • He is obsessed with his shoes and wants to be the one putting theme on. He is Mr. Independent these days ("I do it."), which is nice but can also slow things down a bit :-)
  • When we say, "Let's pray," he grabs our hands and bows his head with eyes wide open. So sweet!
  • Loves to play hide and seek (and says, "I see you!" and gives his spot away) and is not afraid of any stairs
  • Rough moments for B these days are brushing his teeth (it's a battle!). He is also into the all-out tantrums, body-flopping-around-on-the-floor kind, lately. Ugh, but he stays in time-out downstairs (and does not climb out of his crib, his upstairs timeout spot) thank goodness!
  • He brings his head down to his shoulder (like a pout) when he knows he has done something wrong
  • He sometimes says "no" before we even finish the question! Fun age :-)

These past few months have been chock-full of lots of milestones for our little fella:

  • He has dropped the pacifier at night and naptime, woohoo!! I was dreading this event because he was super attached to it and would ask for it at night (he calls it sassy) and he really used it a lot lately thanks to teething. But, just like I did when we weaned him from it during the day, I simply cut off the end and told him it was broken. Easy peasy!

  • 1st trip to the dentist (it was VERY basic, more just an acclimatization thing) because I know it may not be right at 2 that I get him in next :-)
This year he was anti-Santa Clause lap-sitting. Oh well, there's always next year!
Wants to copy everything JW does, even swinging like a big boy!

  • Potty-training! (ain't complete without a cape and golf-club, ha!) What?! I wasn't ready for this, but after two successful days of him going in the potty, we started it...and I am not quite sure if he's ready.
He will go when we ask him if he needs to, but he also still goes in his pull-up. I have yet to go straight to skivvies, as we have been sick and so busy/out-of-town. Potty training is just not convenient! :-) Good thing is, he is not scared of the potty and wants to go, so we will see. I am thinking we will do a more serious attempt in the later spring/summer-time.

His interests at this age are:
  • The great outdoors, the plasma car, coloring (and he does pretty good, since he has a big bro who is obsessed as well), trains, balls, stamps, stickers, Mickey and Elmo. All boy!

This boy LOVES to read! His current favorites are Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear (and he makes the noises for the animals, so funny!), Ten in the Bed, and The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We've had to limit it to three at night before bedtime because he won't want to stop!
He LOVES bathtime
and any type of physical activity with Daddy or Bubba. His faves are wreslting and "riding the horsey!"
He absolutely adores Jameston and you  can usually find him following around big brother and copying him in everything he does...

I love that they are so close! Don't get me wrong, they do fight, but it is usually short-lived and without too many tears (or boo-boos).

I can't handle the sweetness! Love that they love each other so!!

I need to, like I did for Jameston (and be an equal-opportunity-mommy-blogger :-) start a separate post about what all Blake is saying these days. Maybe I'll call it "Blake's Blabberings?" Anywho, these are cute things he says as of late:

"I did it, I do it! (zip it, wipe it, close it...you name it), I love you mommy/daddy/bubba, I wanna read it, Uh-oh, my sock hurt, We're home (when we pull into the garage; copies Mommy on this one),  I wanna wrestle/fight (from Bubba), my turn, not me.

He likes to "count" and has most of the numbers (not in order) but always says,
"two one two." If I ask him, "Why?" he always retorts, "'Cause." He also says "thank you" and "you're welcome," in his own little language. Love it!
Blake is for sure a Daddy's boy, and he lights up anytime they are in the same room. You will usually find him on Brett's lap whenever possible!
Blake, you are such a sweet, yet rowdy, little boy. You are ALL boy in that you love to go, go, go and explore your surroundings. Nicknames since you have started walking and getting into things are, "Brute" and "Bruiser." Although you play hard, you are also a pretty tough boy. Nothing gets in your way or stops you from what you've set out to. You give the best hugs and sweetest kisses, and we can't get enough of your dimples. We love you, Blake-a-roo!!

Christmas fun, times four!

As I said in the previous post, we traveled, what seems like, all over Texas to celebrate Christmas with all sides of our families (over 1800 miles to be exact)! Our last celebration was three weekends ago, so I'm a little tardy on getting this post written...

First up, we headed to Wichita Falls the weekend before Christmas
We made sure to stop by the Fantasy of Lights there on our first night there. It was raining and cold, so we had to enjoy it from the car/drive-thru. But that was a-ok with the boys!
We stayed with my sis and her family, Cousin picture with three of the four Stewart cousins in their Christmas pj's
The next morning we traveled to Vernon to see my grand-mother, my dad's mom. She was up for the company,
as we had a nice visit (fully of lots of coloring) and lunch with her
How to get three kids napping in a car at the same time? Let them stay up late, wake them up early to leave for their great-grandmother's house an hour away, and feed them a good lunch :-)
That night we celebrated with the Jacksons, my mom's side. There were about 30 of us there, including these 6 great grandkids :-)
We headed back the next morning to the Fantasy of Lights again so we could explore in the daylight and on foot!
On Christmas Eve and day, we had our own little celebration at home with our family of four. Jameston fed the reindeer some food the night of Christmas Eve,
and we left out cookies and milk the night before for Santa :-)
Christmas morning!
He kept giving us the play-by-play of everything he saw, it was pretty darn cute!
Plasma car
We also sang happy birthday to Jesus at breakfast!
On the 26th, we had my dad and siblings over for a belated Christmas dinner at our place
My step-mom had a fun new Polaroid camera, and she snapped some great pics of the night. So fun!
And the guys played washers while us gals gabbed :-)
The next weekend, we headed to Austin to see Brett's family. Jameston sporting his new shades on the way :-)
The seven Winters' cousins, our baby to be will make 8 :-)
How we distracted them during the gift exchange...genius!
Father and son, so sweet
Cade and the youngest, Claire, who is 6 months old
Seeing the wonder through a child's eyes makes the holiday even better!
The kids all enjoy all the outdoor activities at Granny and Papa's house!

Going on a hike!
Blake and his stick
Aunt Kayla was in from Seattle!
Blake wanted to swing like a big kid. Slow down on the big-kid stuff, Blake!
Sunset in the Hill Country with my boy
Jameston got some big brother practice with newest cousin, Claire. She took a nap on him and me, so sweet (and Blake didn't freak out, thank goodness)!
Our little family-we are so blessed!
